The Karkloof100 miler is one of South Africa’s most epic trail running endurance events, and the only event of its kind in KwaZulu-Natal. The race will be taking place from 21-23 September 2018 in and around the stunning Karkloof Valley near Howick.

Now in its second year, the Karkloof100 miler starts at Yard41 in Howick, and takes runners on an epic journey through the valleys and indigenous forests of the Karkloof in the KZN Midlands.

Anyone who has explored this area will know how beautiful and special it is and runners will be in for a real treat as they take on this massive trail running challenge.

Speaking at the launch of the Karkloof100, race co-director and founder, Andrew Booth, from KZN Trail Running, said: “Having captured the imagination of the local and international trail running community, we’re opening up the field for the 2018 Karkloof100 to afford ultra-distance athletes from all over South Africa and the world the opportunity to participate in this extreme challenge that aims to push the boundaries of trail running in South Africa.

“After the success of year 1, we are aiming to see 100 finishers, which will give us a shot at becoming a qualifying race for the Western States 100, the oldest and most prestigious 100-miler in the USA.”

Entries for the race opened on 30 November 2017 and are limited to 150 for the 100-mile event and 75 for the 50-mile event. Further details of the event can be found on www.karkloof100.co.za.
